Light, fruity and smooth. The Chuao is an extremely rare bean that boasts an aromatic and delicate flavour but is more difficult to grow than many other beans, and is considered to produce some of the finest chocolate in the world.
The Plantations
Entirely owned by the cooperative La Empresa Compesina de Chuao who continue the 450 year tradition of women ownership of the valley's cacao production. Cacao and fishing are the main economic activities for the families of the valley.
